Tahe 7'9 Malibu Surfboard
Possibly the most versatile in model in the DURA-TEC range, the Malibu combines longboard-like stability and glide with just the right amount of manoeuvrability to get you angling down the line and turning on the face. It's called the Malibu model (meaning longboard), but at 7'9" it's really more of a mini-mal. As such it's the perfect vehicle for accelerated progression after your first lesson or two, and is suitable for complete beginners.
This board is identical with the hugely popular Bic Malibu model, both in its shape and its construction. Bic recently teamed up with the manufacturers Tahe Outdoors, hence the change in the branding, but the actual range is unaltered. These boards are still being made in France back in the same Brittany factory that has started so many beginners on their surfing journey.
The Malibu gives you all the volume and "paddle power" you need to motor around the line-up and catch waves with relative ease. As you pop to your feet, the extensive surface area equates to a wider margin for error and a friendly, forgiving feel.
Once you're up and riding the reduced length, along with the fairly narrow, "pulled-in" tail, will help you control the board on the wave and get beginners linking together their first turns. It's also more manageable than a full-on longboard, and less hazardous (to you and others) when you're battling against the white water.
All the Tahe boards we stock are built in Bic's Brittany factory in trademark DURA-TEC construction. It's superbly tough and shrugs off routine rough and tumble, but it's still light and responsive enough to allow a performance approach on the face.
